Dwayne Johnson & Jack Black Bring Video Game Chaos to Life in New Jumanji: Open World Trailer

Plot and Synopsis

Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the latest Jumanji chapter. It presents a story where the video game universe merges with reality. The release happened on October 28, 2026, accompanied by the promotional message „Our world. New rules. One final game.” This production marks the fifth film in the franchise and concludes the modern reboot trilogy.

Trailer Highlights

The official synopsis announces that during the Christmas period, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan reunite in Jumanji: Open World. This is considered the final episode of the action-adventure trilogy that captivated global audiences. Although the heroes previously escaped Jumanji’s dangerous jungles, in this part, the game breaks free from its console and spreads chaos into the real world.

The trailer shows how the Jumanji game intrudes into reality around the Christmas holidays. It features Spencer and his mother, who are absorbed into the game. The mother plays the character Bravestone, while Spencer plays Ruby. The trailer combines action sequences with the franchise’s characteristic humor. The characters’ actions in the game have consequences in the real world, as Ruby emphasizes: „From here on, the game gets harder; we must be prepared for whatever happens. If we lose here, there will be no home to return to. No reset. No second chance.”

The film is directed by Jake Kasdan, who also wrote the story with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Dwayne Johnson returns as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, and Jack Black reappears as Professor Shelly Oberon. Kevin Hart returns as Franklin Mouse Finbar, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, and Awkwafina plays Ming Fleefoot. Returning actors include Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Nick Jonas, and Danny DeVito. Lamorne Morris, Britanny O’Grady, Burn Gorman, and Nasim Pedrad make their Jumanji franchise debuts. The theatrical premiere of Jumanji: Open World is scheduled for December 25, 2026.
