The New York indie institution appeared on the famous late-night program on November 7. Comedian and social media personality Druski served as the host for the evening. The musical performance kicked off with the driving rhythm of „Lonely In The Future.”Later in the broadcast, the musicians returned to the stage to deliver „Going Shopping.”This segment included a major surprise when actor Walton Goggins joined the lineup to play the bongos. This collaboration follows his appearance in the official music video for the track a few months prior. Directed by Johann Rashid, that visual served as a direct tribute to Paul Simon's 1986 video for „You Can Call Me Al,”with Goggins stepping into the role originally played by Chevy Chase.

Following the broadcast, the star of The White Lotusadmitted that the entire experience surpassed his wildest dreams. He shared on social media that he never would have dared to place such an ambition on his bucket list. Furthermore, he praised Reality Awaitsas an absolute masterpiece.

This television milestone marks the fifth time the group has performed as the musical guest on SNL. Their previous appearances took place in 2002, 2006, 2011, and 2020. Their last visit to the studio occurred on Halloween night in 2020, when they played The Adults Are Talkingand Bad Decisionsfrom their sixth record, The New Abnormal, during an episode hosted by John Mulaney.

Recently, the collective wrapped up their first

At present, the group is traveling extensively to promote their newest record. Reality Awaitsis their first full-length release following a six-year hiatus. The band recorded the project in Costa Rica with renowned producer Rick Rubin at the helm. Critics have welcomed the return warmly, with one major publication awarding the record four stars. Reviewers praised the members for their willingness to experiment, noting that the outfit sounds more energized and revitalized than they have in years.

Recently, the collective wrapped up their first arena headlining tour across the United Kingdom and Ireland in over twenty years. That trek included two consecutive nights at London's O2 Arena, alongside massive shows in Newcastle, Manchester, and Dublin. Their performance in the British capital earned a five-star review, which observed that despite the ups and downs over two and a half decades, the ensemble is enjoying a creative peak, playing with unmatched signature style and youthful freshness.

The current touring lineup features a notable absence. Guitarist Nick Valensi announced a temporary break from band activities back in May. Filling in on guitar duties is Steve Schiltz from the band Longwave. Even so, frontman Julian Casablancas has reassured fans that Valensi will eventually rejoin his bandmates. Meanwhile, Valensi recently made headlines of his own by staging a surprise guest appearance alongside Duran Duran in Paris.

Looking ahead, the schedule for Saturday Night Live continues next week on November 14. Phoebe Bridgers is slated to serve as the musical guest, while John Mulaney will return to host the episode.
