Donnie served as an enforcer for Kat McAllister, played by Janet McTeer. His primary mission was to seduce Jan Da Souza, portrayed by Joanne Froggatt. In a shocking turn of events, Jan uncovers Donnie’s true identity and shoots him in the neck. Fine revealed that the production team had been discussing the possibility of Donnie’s death since the start of the year. „We talked about it early on. I knew Donnie had to reach an end at some point,”the actor explained. However, he remained unaware of the specific timing or the method of his character's demise until later.
No Remorse for a Cold Enforcer
Fine admitted he was extremely pleased with how the story concluded. „I am very happy. Joanne Froggatt shot me in the neck. I think it was a great way for Donnie to go,”he stated. Although the death brought a mix of emotions, Fine emphasized that Donnie felt no genuine emotional connection to Jan. „I don't think there is any care for her. There is no intention to tell her who he really is,”Fine noted.
Furthermore, the actor confirmed that Donnie would have killed Jan without hesitation if Frankie had ordered it. „He is not a good person and has no attachments,”Fine added. Regarding Donnie’s role as the manager for Seraphina, played by Mandeep Dhillon, the actor clarified that the relationship was strictly professional. „Donnie does not care about anything other than the work,”he said.
Fine also shared a bizarre encounter with a fan who once threw an apple from her purse at him, mistakenly believing the production was a reality show. The new season of MobLand is currently streaming on Paramount+, with fresh episodes arriving every Thursday.
